A national dialogue on Conflict, Security and Stability in Northern Ghana was held on March 24, 2021 to develop a Roadmap for coordinated advocacy on peace, security and stability by state and non- state actors in the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West regions.

The Dialogue was a part of a series of regional and National conversations organised by Star-Ghana Foundation and its partners under the Conflict, Security and Stability Fund (CSSF)in Northern Ghana Project.

The Chairman of the NPC, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu- Gyamfi called for support for the current efforts by the king and indigenes of Dagbon to revise their age-old traditional constitution which presents a great opportunity to resolve the issue regarding how long a Regent is permitted to stay in office after the exit of a chief. He urged the National House of Chiefs to complete the process of ‘Codification’ of all traditional areas in the country to bring certainty and clarity regarding occupation of vacant chieftaincies particularly in the Northern part of Ghana thus a call on government, Development Partners and Civil Society to lend more support for these efforts intended to bring clarity and sequences in our traditional areas.

Rev. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi further stated that the issue of the ownership of land and farmlands must be addressed. For example, who owns land or have the title to a piece of land must not be a subject of controversy. As leaders, we have a duty to streamline this sector in the country to promote peace and development. The economies of land must be properly framed and given the needed attention to make this succeed.
