MFWA & NPC TRAIN JOURNALISTS ON PEACE JOURNALISM AND FACT-BASED CONFLICT SENSITIVITY REPORTING
On 20th February 2024, the Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, George Amoh joined the Media Foundation for West Africa for the opening ceremony of a two-day training in Peace Journalism and Fact-Based Conflict Sensitivity Reporting at the Sun lodge hotel in Accra.
The theme of this training was “Capacity Building to Enhance the Role of the Media in Conflict Resolution, Peace Building and Democratic Consolidation in Ghana”. The trained was aimed at promoting peaceful elections, building community resilience and enriching Ghana’s democratic value.
Mr. George Amoh urged members of the media to adhere to ethical standards, promote accountability and exhibit professionalism in their reportage. He encouraged participants to leave a legacy in their field of work.
The training was made of 100 journalists comprising 60 Radio journalists, 10 TV broadcasters, 10 print media,10 online media and 10 bloggers that were carefully selected from 50 media outlets.
The training had in attendance Mr. Rolf Olson, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US embassy in Ghana; Professor Kwame Karikari, a Board member of MFWA and Dr. Kojo Impraim, Director of Research and Advocacy, MFWA.
