The United Nation’s Secretary-General’s Special Representative to West Africa and the Sahel visited the National Peace Council

The United Nation’s Secretary-General’s Special Representative to West Africa and the Sahel, H.E Leonardo Santos Simão visited the National Peace Council on Friday 5th July, 2024. This visit was part of his two day working visit to Ghana. He was accompanied by H.E Charles Abani, UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana and some UN dignitaries from New York, Senegal and Ghana.

In his engagement with the Governing Board and Management of the National Peace Council, H.E. Leonardo Santos Simão was confident that the Peace Architecture that Ghana has developed is robust and has contributed to the peace that Ghana enjoys currently in spite of the instability in the sub-region.

The Members of the Governing Board and Management present were full of appreciation to the UN for the support it gives to the National Peace Council in their bid to prevent, manage and resolve conflicts in Ghana.

In his concluding remarks, H.E. Leonardo Santos Simão pledged the UN’s commitment to continue with its support to the National Peace Council especially as Ghana approaches its 2024 general elections.
