Fostering a Culture of Peace for Social Cohesion
The Volta Regional Peace Council (VRPC) hosted a crucial dialogue on the role of religious leaders in fostering peace and preventing election-related violence at the Calvary Baptist Church, Ho, on 10th October 2024. Under the project titled “Fostering a Culture of Peace for Social Cohesion,” the initiative aims to enhance collaboration between key stakeholders, particularly religious leaders, and the Peace Council to promote peace before, during, and after the upcoming 2024 elections.
During his keynote address, the Chairman of the VRPC emphasized the importance of peace as a collective responsibility, stating, “Peace is a collective responsibility. It goes beyond the elections; it’s about fostering a culture of peace and understanding in our communities, which will endure long after the ballots are cast.”
The expected outcome of this project is a united approach to sustaining peace, ensuring that communities across the Volta Region and beyond work together to prevent election-related violence.
The event, supported by the Government of Ghana, saw participation from major religious bodies, including the Christian Council of Ghana, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, National Clergy Association of Ghana, and many more.
Participating Institutions:
Christian Council of Ghana, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, National Clergy Association of Ghana, International Clergy Association of Ghana, and other key religious groups.
