National Peace Council Launches Peace Education and Sensitization Program in Ashanti Region
The National Peace Council (NPC) took an impactful step toward promoting a culture of peace by initiating a Peace Education and Sensitization program for students at Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High School. This initiative, targeting junior and senior high school students across Ghana, aims to establish Peace Ambassadors Clubs within high schools, empowering students with essential skills in non-violent conflict resolution.
In the opening remarks, the Regional Executive Secretary highlighted the need for youth to actively engage as “Peace Messengers” to counter conflict and promote peace. “We cannot live peacefully by ourselves; instead, we must cultivate a spirit of peace that resonates throughout our communities and beyond,” he stated.
With over 1,500 first-year students in attendance, the program covered conflict resolution mechanisms and shared key security tips, including counter-terrorism awareness. This engagement is part of NPC’s broader mission to prepare the youth to build a peaceful future for Ghana.
The NPC is committed to empowering the youth to become catalysts of peace within their communities, fostering a Ghana where peace and dialogue thrive.
