NPC-TUDEC promote culture of Peace

The National Peace Council (NPC) in collaboration with Turkey Corporation and Development Association (TUDEC) Ghana, have shown commitment to promote a culture of peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths, cultures and race.

Dr. George Amoh, Executive Secretary of NPC in a remark at the 13th Dialogue and Peace Ifar Dinner in Accra, highlighted the religious significance of fasting, and encouraged Muslims, Christians, and people of faith to use the season to reconcile their differences and promote peace.

He further called on managers of Christian and Islamic mission schools to exercise tolerance and toleration in the educational institutions during the season, to foster peaceful coexistence.

Similarly, Mr. Cafer Tepeli, President of TUDEC-Ghana, stressed the essence of living peacefully and promoting the culture of peace in the country.

He reiterated the commitment of his organisation to promote charity and continue working with the NPC to promote sustainable peace in Ghana.

As part of the NPC-TUDEC 13th Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner, which was on the theme: “Strengthening Peace: Passing the Culture of Dialogue and Peace to Future Generations,” Major General Richard Addo Gyane, Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) was honoured with the Peace Award 2025.

Other awardees at the programme were Right Reverend Dr. Abraham Nana Opare-Boakye, Moderator, General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana; Madam Kathleen Addy – Chairperson, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE); and Sheikh Ali Abubakar Napari – Executive Director, The Light Foundation.

The programme which brought together dignitaries included Alhaji Issifu Baba Seidu – Member of Parliament for Nalerigu-Gambaga, and Minister of State in-charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, who represented the President of Ghana – His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
