NPC interacts with Researchers
The National Peace Council (NPC) has engaged researchers from the Elva Community Engagement from the Hague to discuss the findings of a study on Borderlines of Ghana some neighbouring ones.
The study titled “Life on the Line: Stability and Livelihood Challenges in the Borderlands of Coastal West Africa,” examines the complex socio-economic dynamics in borderlands communities and market regions.
Dr. Andrew Lebovich, Research Fellow Conflict Research Unit, touched on the growing challenges the communities in the border towns face due to growing insecurity from the Sahel.
Likewise, Ms. Aneliese Bernard, Director for Strategic Stabilisation Advisors, noted that the finding of the study highlights critical insights into the intersection of security, livelihoods, and trade in the border communities of Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
The study was financed by the Integrated Security Fund (ISF) from FCDO of the United Kingdom and the XCEPT research fund and was executed by Elva Community Engagement and the Clingendael Institute.
The meeting with NPC forms part of key stakeholders’ engagement in Ghana to discuss the findings and validation, to ensure that the research informs policies and programmes that support stability and resilience in the West African subregion.
