12th Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner
The National Peace Council, in collaboration with the Ghana Turkey Corporation and Development Association (TUDEC), recently organized the 12th Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner. This event, held on March 20, 2024, at the Underbridge Events Centre in East Legon, aimed to foster a culture of coexistence, mutual understanding, and improved dialogue among individuals of various faiths, cultures, and races.
Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, the National Chief Imam’s spokesperson and a board member of the National Peace Council, commended TUDEC for their initiative in organizing the Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner. He emphasized the significance of peace as the cornerstone of human civilization and stressed the importance of dialogue in fostering appreciation and understanding among different communities.
The event attracted several distinguished personalities including Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress, religious leaders, politicians, and government officials. Their presence underscored the importance of promoting peace and harmony in Ghana.
TUDEC, established in Ghana by a group of professionals, has been instrumental in facilitating cultural, commercial, and humanitarian exchanges in the country. The Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner is one of TUDEC’s initiatives aimed at identifying and honoring individuals who promote peaceful coexistence in Ghana.
Mr. George Amoh, the Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, commended TUDEC for their support over the years. He highlighted the Council’s mandate and its engagements with various stakeholders, including the electoral commission, the chief justice, political parties, and government agencies, to ensure peace before, during, and after the 2024 general elections. Mr. Amoh emphasized the importance of collective efforts in building sustainable peace in Ghana.
The 12th Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner served as a platform for meaningful discussions on promoting peace and coexistence in Ghana. The event highlighted the crucial role of dialogue, understanding, and collaboration in addressing societal challenges and fostering harmony among diverse communities.
