REPORT ON PEACE EDUCATION HELD AT CATHOLIC JUBILEE BASIC SCHOOL, JUBILEE ON 14TH FEBRUARY 2024.
The Central Regional Peace Council (CRPC), in their quest to achieve its mandate of building a sustainable peace in the region had an engagement with the students of Catholic Jubilee basic on the topic “dangers of getting involved in vigilantism”.
The Regional Executive Secretary, Dr. Charles Ohene-Amoh made an insightful contribution that, it’s of great importance to educate the infants in their formative period about the implications of indulging in vigilante activities.
In that regard, Dr. Ohene-Amoh laid down the legal implications and the several penalties associated with contravening the vigilantism Act 999 which include but not limited to a conviction to a term of imprisonment. In addition, he drew their attention to the fact that individuals convicted for engaging in vigilantism activities directly or indirectly, are disqualified from holding a public or political party offices.
The representative of the Ghana Pentecostal &Charismatic Council, Pastor Joseph Arizie in summary cautioned students to desist from vigilantism for its associated offences are enormous to endure. Students were assured of a bright future if they refrain from vigilante activities.
