On Wednesday, 4th June 2025, the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Peace Council, Rt. Rev. Samuel Kofi Osabutey, participated in the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) meeting held at the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) Board Room, upon the invitation of the Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo.

Delivering his remarks, Rt. Rev. Osabutey reiterated the Council’s constitutional mandate in conflict prevention, management, and resolution, and stressed the importance of collaboration between the Peace Council and REGSEC in safeguarding peace and security in the region.

He noted that Greater Accra continues to grapple with a number of complex issues, including land and chieftaincy disputes, as well as emerging concerns such as violence in second-cycle schools and tensions surrounding the annual ban on drumming and noise-making. The Council, he explained, is actively engaging relevant stakeholders to address these challenges.

Rt. Rev. Osabutey also expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister for the opportunity to share insights and deepen institutional collaboration, reinforcing the need for sustained dialogue and joint interventions to promote harmony across the region.

The National Peace Council remains committed to working with all partners to build lasting peace in Greater Accra and across the nation.
