Community and Stakeholder Engagement for Peacebuilding Western North Region

On 5th June 2025, the Western North Regional Peace Council (WNRPC) convened a vital community and stakeholder engagement session at the Church of Pentecost, Akontombra, aimed at strengthening partnerships for peacebuilding and conflict prevention in the region.

The dialogue brought together diverse stakeholders—including religious leaders, security agencies, political party representatives, and traditional authorities—to raise awareness about the Peace Council’s mandate and to reflect on existing tensions and early warning signs within communities.

In his keynote address, Most Rev. Samuel Nkuah-Boateng, Regional Chairman, emphasized that “peacebuilding is not just about dialogue, but also about partnerships and collective action.” Very Rev. Samuel Kusi-Appiah echoed this sentiment, calling on all institutions and community members to actively support conflict resolution and healing.

Key participating agencies included the Ghana Police Service, Immigration Service, Akontombra District Assembly, Electoral Commission, National Investigation Bureau, Local Council of Churches, and political party representatives. The engagement created space for identifying practical solutions to conflict triggers and promoting peaceful coexistence.

This initiative underscores the NPC’s ongoing efforts to build resilient, peaceful communities through inclusive stakeholder engagement and proactive conflict prevention.
