GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL PEACE COUNCIL CALLS FOR CALM
1. The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council (GARPC) has noted separate incidents of
violent clashes resulting in deaths and injuries during the celebration of the Homowo
festival in Teshie and Omanjor.
2. The Council extends its condolences to the bereaved families and wishes the injured a
speedy recovery.
3. Although the Council congratulates the chiefs, elders, and people of Ga State on the
peaceful celebration of the 2025 Homowo festival, it is troubled by some pockets of
violence during the beautiful celebration.
4. The Council strongly condemns the violent acts and urges factions and youth of these
communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with the law enforcement agency to
ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
5. The Council commends the Ghana Police Service for its swift deployment and
surveillance of the circumstances to maintain law and order in the affected areas.
6. The Council assures all stakeholders that it will initiate constructive engagements with all
parties to find lasting solutions to these disputes.
