Project Objective

The Central Regional Peace Council (CRPC) organized a sensitization program themed “Peaceful Coexistence in Diversity: Preventing Violence in Schools” to educate junior high school pupils on the importance of harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect in diverse environments.
The initiative aimed to promote non-violent approaches to resolving differences and strengthen the culture of peace among young learners.

Expected Outcomes

The sensitization program was designed to:

  • Increase pupils’ awareness of the types, causes, and effects of violence in schools.

  • Strengthen understanding of peaceful conflict resolution methods.

  • Encourage tolerance, forgiveness, and justice as core values for peaceful coexistence.

  • Enhance understanding of the role and functions of the National Peace Council (NPC) in sustaining peace and stability in Ghana.

Keynote Address

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Charles Ohene-Amoh, Regional Executive Secretary of the Central Regional Peace Council, emphasized that peace is a personal and collective responsibility. He stated:

“Peace begins with how we treat one another in our daily lives. When we learn to tolerate, forgive, and seek justice the right way, we make our schools and communities better places for everyone. Violence does not solve problems—it only creates more. Let us always choose peace.”
