National Peace Council Entreats Students to Coexist Peacefully
The National Peace Council (NPC) has entreated students to be disciplined, respect others and embraced values that would promote peaceful coexistence within the school setting and in their communities.
Mrs. Janet Sarney-Kuma, NPC’s Director of Capacity Development and Outreach, speaking to students at the Kaneshie Senior High Technical School, as part a series of engagement with second-cycle schools to promote peace, urged them to eschew bullying, be tolerant of each other and be advocates for peace.
Touching on the different types of conflicts, the Director touched on how to address conflict-related issues among students and within the schools, urging students to be purposeful and law-abided.
She charged the students to take their studies seriously, use social media responsibly, and desist from carrying any weapon to school or any gathering. “It is an offence to carry weapon on yourself, and you will be arrested by security agencies” she stressed.
In a remark, Mr. Paul Mensah Egyir, Headmaster of the Kaneshie Senior High Technical School, thanked the National Peace Council for engaging the student and the school, calling for more interaction to enhance peace education.
The NPC Capacity Development and Outreach Directorate has as part of the series of engagements interacted with students in three schools and would be extending the drive to other schools in subsequent weeks.
