Another Step Towards Peace: National Peace Council Concludes Two-Day Dialogue In Nalerigu

The National Peace Council (NPC) has concluded another two-day dialogue and capacity-building programme in Nalerigu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen peacebuilding, conflict prevention and responsible communication in the North East and Upper East Regions.

Following from the earlier engagement in the week in Bolgatanga, the dialogue brought together selected personnel from the security agencies and media practitioners, to reflect on their respective roles in promoting peace and preventing the escalation of conflict.

Discussions focused on conflict-sensitive reporting, responsible information sharing, conflict prevention, peacebuilding and strengthening of collaborative-problem solving among security institutions and the media.

In conflict-sensitive environments, information can have a significant impact on public perceptions and community relations. Strengthening the capacity of those who gather, manage and disseminate information is therefore an important step towards promoting peace and social cohesion.

The National Peace Council continues to engage key stakeholders through dialogue and trust building process towards sustainable peace in Bawku.
