Oti Regional Peace Council Leads Multi-District Engagement on Non-Violence and Social Cohesion-Kadjebi District
The National Peace Council, through its Oti Regional structures, organized a three-day Community Engagement on Non-Violence, Youth Inclusion, and Social Cohesion across parts of the Oti Region from 24th to 26th February 2026.
The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to promote non-violent conflict resolution, strengthen youth participation in peacebuilding and local governance, and enhance social cohesion among diverse groups within the Nkwanta North District and adjoining districts.
Objectives of the Engagement
The programme aimed to:

Enhance collaboration among traditional authorities, religious leaders, security agencies, and community groups

Deepen social cohesion across diverse ethnic and social identities

Key Highlights
Speakers at the various engagements emphasized the importance of dialogue, tolerance, and collective responsibility in preventing violence and sustaining peace. The need for inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and stronger collaboration between traditional, religious, and security institutions was strongly underscored.
Participants were encouraged to prioritize dialogue over division and to work together in addressing emerging tensions within their communities.
