The National Peace Council (NPC) and Stakeholders including the Star Ghana, Fulbe Chiefs and Fulbe Youth Association have pledged commitment to ensure the integration and reduce the marginalistioin against the Fulbe’s in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch of a 70-page Fulbe Integration Manual in Accra on Tuesday 25th February 2025, Dr. George Amoh, Executive Secretary of NPC stated that as a country we have to pay attention and be delibrate about properly integrating minority groups into the Ghanain society to promote peaceful and hamonious coexistence.
Stressing the ardous task to rebuild our society, the Executive Secretary said NPC was setting up policies and programmes to ensure the integration of minority groups including Fulbe’s, residents of Zongo’s, Volta & Oti regions into the county.
Discussants including reserachers, traditional leaders and Fulbe youth, at a pannel discussion at the launch touched on the sterotypes, drivers of Fulbe exclusions, Conflict resolutions and how to improve upon the conditions of the Fulbe’s in Ghana.
Stakeholders, among other points recommended the acceptance of Fulbe to reduce the attacks on them, suggested organizing programmes to deal with the systemic structural barriers against Fulbe’s as well as court the support of traditional leaders to lead the integration through continuous community engagements.
