NPC BUILDS TRUST AMONG SECURITY AGENCIES, CITIZENS

The National Peace Council (NPC) in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), has organised a two-day Regional Level Stakeholder Dialogue at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region to promote trust building and cooperation among security agencies and residents.

The programme with funding from the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Netherlands is geared towards establishing a platform for security agencies, Civil Society Organisations, traditional authorities and residents to engage to build trust and cooperation among partners to enhance preventive actions against violent extremism.

Participants included representative from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Immigration Service, National Security, Ghana Prisons Service, the National Intelligent Bureau, and Ghana Fire Service as well as the representative from the Regional Houses of Chiefs and Queen mothers.

The Regional Dialogues on improving Civilian-Security Agency Relations for the Prevention of Violent Extremism in Ghana (PoVETSA II) is a follow up project to equip stakeholders to respond to threats of violent extremism and terrorism in Northern Ghana.
