National Peace Council Commended for Training Political Parties

The National Peace Council (NPC) has been commended at the ongoing Post 2024 Election Evaluations Dialogue in Koforidua for actively engaging and equipping political party’s leaders on conflict prevention, management, and resolution.

It would be recalled that the NPC, as part of the pre-election preparation, trained 180 political party activists including the leadership and the youth on conflict prevention, conflict management and resolution within their parties.

Discussant in reflecting on the topic Inclusive Governance: Strengthening Mechanisms for Intra-and-Inter-Party Dialogue and Greater Political Tolerance, during the Post 2024 Election Evaluation Dialogue applauded the NPC for reaching out to the Political Parties in promoting peace and stability ahead of Ghana’s 2024 general elections.

In Conflict Prevention and Management, the NPC equipped political party executives with skills and knowledge to prevent and manage conflicts, focusing on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Likewise in Peacebuilding and Consensus Building, the Council took the political parties through the importance of prioritizing peace, stability, and unity in the electoral process, encouraging constructive dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Council also took them through Alternative Dispute Resolution, highlighting the use of non-violent strategies to respond to conflicts, including mediation, negotiation, and dialogue.
