NPC Charges NPP Presidential Aspirants To Submit To Peace Pact

The National Peace Council has entreated Aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential flagbearer race to submit to the tenets of the pact to safeguard the unity of the party.

A Member of the NPC Governing Board, Nana Effah-Apenteng, noted that by signing on the Peace Pact the party has demonstrated it readiness to strengthen its internal party cohesion, which is directly in sync with national resilience and unity.

“This enduring legacy of exploring non-violent means to address intra-party conflicts is an assurance to sustain the peace within the party leadership and supporters and ultimately strive for progress and development of our country Ghana” he added.

Nana Effah-Apenteng further entreated the Aspirants to rise above their personal interests and accept the winner and choose the path of peace for the collective good of the party and the country.

In a remark, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno assured the party of the Ghana Police’s readiness to provide adequate security at all polling stations.

The Former President. H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in a remark stated that “Unity of the party is not optional, and that “it is strategic,” stressing that “the NPP is bigger than any of us”.

He urged the Aspirants to let their campaigns be fair, devoid of insults in order to be worthy of the trust of Ghanaians.

The Chairman of the Party Election Committee, Hon Joseph Osei Owusu, explained that the Peace pact was to affirm the transparency of the process, be committed to accept the results of the January 31st Elections, and to support whoever was elected.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markins noted that to win power to serve Ghana again, they party must stay united, stay discipline and be focused.

He urged the Aspirants to conduct their campaigns with civility, adding that stakes are higher than the ambition of any candidate.

The NPC Governing Board Members present who graced the occasion include Rev. Dr. Hilliard K. Dela Dogbe, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, Georgette Awura Dede Francois as well as Dr. George Amoh, Executive Secretary, and Mr. Frank Wilson Bodza, Deputy Director, Conflict Resolution and Management at the NPC.
