Oti Regional Peace Council Holds Community Engagement on Non-Violence and Youth Inclusion in Nkwanta
The Oti Regional Peace Council on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, organized a Community Engagement in Nkwanta, within the Nkwanta South Municipality, on the theme Non-Violence, Youth Inclusion, and Social Cohesion.
The engagement brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Chiefs and Queen Mothers, youth groups, religious bodies, tribal associations, women’s groups, representatives of the Ghana Police Service, the Local Assembly, and other community-based organizations across the municipality.
Participants actively engaged in practical discussions focused on promoting non-violence, countering divisive narratives, and strengthening mutual respect among diverse ethnic and social identities within the area. The dialogue provided a platform for open interaction, shared experiences, and collaborative problem-solving aimed at reinforcing peace and unity in the municipality.
A key highlight of the session was the strong call to action directed at young people. They were encouraged to see themselves not merely as beneficiaries of peace, but as frontline advocates and ambassadors of dialogue, tolerance, and unity within Nkwanta South.
The programme forms part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to deepen social cohesion, promote inclusive participation, and sustain peaceful coexistence in the Oti Region.
