The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council observes Ayawaso East constituency by-election
The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council led by the Chairman Rt Rev Samuel Kofi Osabutey, early this morning, observed the voting in the ongoing Ayawaso East constituency by-election. The GARPC team visited some polling stations including junior high international school, Alaska Cinema Hall, Highway Nursery 2, Anani International School, Islamic Research Institute 2&3 in the constituency, where voting was progressing steadily with a heavy presence of police personnel deployed to ensure maximum security of the by-election. During the rounds, Chairman interacted with the EC officials, police officers and voters and encouraged them to maintain the professionalism and orderliness of the process.
The Chairman and Sheikh Abass Saleh Haroun granted interviews to some media outlets including TV3, Homebase TV, Oyerepa FM&TV, Onua FM& TV, Accra FM, CITI FM, Channel among others. He reiterated the call for peaceful poll and urged voters to conduct themselves in a manner devoid of hostility and disagreements and to accept the outcome of the poll as a reflection of people’s will.
Sheikh Haroun appealed to the youths to respect the diversity of the people and avoid provocative utterances that may have the potential to breach the peace of the area.
