Key Highlights from the Presentation
The Regional Executive Secretary of VRPC emphasized that technical institutions are centres for skill development and innovation and must reflect discipline, responsibility, and teamwork. He noted that beyond acquiring technical knowledge, students must also build strong character, demonstrate personal responsibility, and respect the rule of law.
He addressed the misconception that being in school shields individuals from criminal responsibility, clarifying that wearing a school uniform does not exempt anyone from the law. He explained that acts of violence can result in arrest, prosecution, and a permanent criminal record, which may negatively affect future employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Using practical examples, he illustrated how poor decisions can have long-term consequences and urged students to channel their energy into productive activities, collaboration, and positive engagement.
He concluded by encouraging students to resolve disputes through dialogue, mutual respect, and responsible decision-making, emphasizing that discipline and peaceful conduct are essential for both personal development and national progress.
Participation
The programme brought together the Volta Regional Peace Council, school management, teaching staff, and student leaders of Atorkor Technical Institute, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting discipline, non-violence, and a peaceful learning environment.
