The Volta Regional Peace Council (VRPC) organized a sensitization programme on 26th February 2026 at the grounds of Anlo Technical Institute.
The programme, themed Promoting Discipline and Responsible Conduct in Technical Institutions, focused on strengthening accountability, equipping students with conflict resolution skills, and fostering teamwork within the school environment.
Objectives of the Programme
The engagement aimed to:
- Promote accountability and personal responsibility among students
- Equip students with practical skills for managing conflicts constructively
- Encourage teamwork and mutual respect within the school community
Expected Outcomes
The programme was designed to:
- Reduce cases of indiscipline and violence
- Strengthen a culture of teamwork and cooperation
- Increase awareness of the legal consequences of violent behaviour
Key Highlights from the Presentation
The Regional Executive Secretary delivered an engaging presentation using a practical analogy from the technical field. He explained that just as machines require proper wiring and calibration to function effectively, the human mind also requires discipline and emotional control to operate efficiently.
He noted that a minor mechanical fault, if left unattended, can damage an entire system. Similarly, unmanaged anger or a single act of indiscipline can disrupt the entire school environment and undermine years of learning and development.
Encouraging a problem-solving mindset, he urged students to view conflict as a technical issue that requires diagnosis rather than destruction. Instead of reacting impulsively, students should “troubleshoot” disagreements by identifying the root cause, communicating clearly, and applying appropriate solutions through dialogue and cooperation.
He emphasized that maintaining a disciplined and peaceful learning environment is essential not only for mastering technical skills but also for building strong character and preparing for future professional success.
Participation
The programme brought together the Volta Regional Peace Council, school authorities, teaching staff, and student leaders of Anlo Technical Institute, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting discipline, responsibility, and peaceful coexistence within the institution.
