  • Educate students on the causes and consequences of violence in schools
  • Promote dialogue, tolerance, and non-violent conflict resolution
  • Strengthen discipline and foster a peaceful learning environment

Expected Outcomes

The programme was designed to:

  • Increase awareness among students on the importance of peaceful coexistence
  • Improve student behaviour and reduce incidents of violence and indiscipline
  • Create a safer and more supportive school environment that enhances academic excellence

Key Highlights from the Presentation

The Regional Executive Secretary of VRPC commended the school’s management and teaching staff for maintaining a serene and well-structured learning environment, noting that such conditions provide an ideal setting for reflective engagement.

He introduced students to the concept of the Decision Matrix—the critical mental space between provocation and response. He explained that while conflict is inevitable, violence is preventable when individuals learn to pause, think critically, and assess consequences before acting.

He cautioned that impulsive reactions can lead to serious consequences, including suspension, dismissal, criminal records, injuries, destruction of property, and long-term setbacks to one’s academic and professional future. He emphasized that a single uncontrolled moment can significantly alter the course of one’s life.

Encouraging positive approaches, he advised students to adopt constructive conflict resolution methods such as negotiation and mediation. He noted that negotiation fosters mutual understanding, while mediation helps restore relationships and protect reputations.

He concluded by reminding students that true maturity and leadership are demonstrated through self-control, thoughtful decision-making, and the courage to choose peace over aggression.

Participation

The programme brought together the Volta Regional Peace Council, school management, teaching staff, and student leaders of Anlo Senior High School, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting discipline, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence within the school community.
