Volta Regional Peace Council Promotes Responsible Leadership and Peace at Volta Senior High School

The Volta Regional Peace Council (VRPC) organized a sensitization programme on 25th February 2026 at the Assembly Hall of Volta Senior High School in Ho.

The programme, themed Building a Culture of Peace and Responsible Leadership in Schools, focused on empowering students to embrace discipline, responsible leadership, and peaceful coexistence within the school community.

Objectives of the Programme

The engagement aimed to:

  • Create awareness on the long-term consequences of violence and indiscipline
  • Encourage responsible leadership among students
  • Promote unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence

Expected Outcomes

The programme was designed to:

  • Increase student awareness of peaceful living and responsible conduct
  • Strengthen student leadership in promoting harmony
  • Enhance cooperation between students and school authorities

Key Highlights from the Presentation

Addressing the students, the Regional Executive Secretary emphasized that education goes beyond academic success to include character development and leadership. He noted that violence and indiscipline can limit opportunities, negatively impact academic performance, and damage future prospects.

He urged students to embrace unity despite differences in background, opinions, or beliefs, stressing that responsible leadership begins with personal discipline, respect for school rules, and a commitment to being a positive influence.

The Executive Secretary encouraged student leaders to take active roles in promoting dialogue and resolving misunderstandings at an early stage before they escalate into conflict. He highlighted that leadership within the school setting requires responsibility, integrity, and the ability to inspire others toward peaceful conduct.

He concluded by reminding students that they are ambassadors of their school and region, and that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility essential for academic excellence and national development.
