The Bono Regional Peace Council organized a Non-Violence Sensitization Programme for students of Istiqaama Senior High School, Wenchi, on 3rd August 2026 to promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen conflict resolution skills, and encourage students to become ambassadors of peace within their school and communities.

The programme focused on educating students on the principles of non-violence, discouraging bullying, intimidation, and physical aggression, while promoting dialogue, tolerance, and responsible citizenship. It also encouraged students to report early signs of conflict and seek peaceful intervention through the appropriate school authorities.

Speaking on the theme “Students as Ambassadors of Peace,” Mr. Ebenezer Kwofie, Senior Programmes Manager of the Bono Regional Peace Council, introduced students and staff to the mandate of the National Peace Council and emphasized that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility. He encouraged students to lead by example, resolve conflicts peacefully, and actively contribute to creating a safe and harmonious learning environment.

Delivering a presentation on “Religious Tolerance and Peacebuilding in Schools,” Mr. Francis Cudjoe, Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), stressed the importance of respecting religious diversity and fostering mutual understanding among students. He encouraged learners to reject discrimination, embrace dialogue and tolerance, and view diversity as a source of strength that promotes unity and peaceful coexistence.

The programme was attended by Mr. John Boazie, Acting Regional Executive Secretary of the Bono Regional Peace Council, Ms. Carmen Esi Yawa Woode, Assistant Programmes Manager, staff of the Council, school authorities, and students of Istiqaama Senior High School. The engagement forms part of the Bono Regional Peace Council’s ongoing efforts to build a culture of non-violence and equip young people with the values and skills needed to promote peace in their schools and communities.
