The Ashanti Regional Peace Council (ARPC), in collaboration with the Small Arms and Light Weapons Commission (SALW), organized a Peace Education and Sensitization programme for students of AME Zion Junior High School on Friday, 21st November 2025.

The initiative focused on educating students about the dangers of illegal possession and use of Small Arms and Light Weapons, promoting peaceful coexistence, and establishing Peace Ambassadors Clubs across JHS and SHS institutions in the region.

During the engagement, speakers emphasized non-violent approaches to resolving differences, vigilance in reporting the movement of weapons, and the importance of tolerance and respect in preventing violence among young people.

Key highlights included:

  • Strengthening students’ knowledge of peaceful conflict resolution
  • Awareness creation on the risks and impact of small arms proliferation
  • Encouraging responsible reporting of suspicious activity
  • Inspiring a new generation of youth peace ambassadors

Over 180 students, teachers, and administrators participated.
The Ashanti Regional Peace Council and SALW Commission reaffirm their commitment to building a safer, violence-free environment for all young people.
