The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council Meets Elders of La Royal stool
The Greater Accra Regional Peace Council, chaired by Rt. Rev. Samuel Kofi Osabutey, yesterday, met with the elders of La Royal Stool at the La Traditional Council to discuss the Kaajaanor boundary dispute.
His opening remarks, George Oko Mensah, Acting Regional Executive Secretary, emphasized the purpose of the meeting, explaining that the Council has closely monitored the demolition exercise, which has led to disputes regarding the ownership of the Kaajaanor lands between the La and Osu stools.
The Council is concerned about the threats to peace and security in the region and considers it a national duty to assist in resolving the dispute between both parties.
In his response, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV praised the council’s quick response to the issue.
“We are excited about the work of the council in ensuring that peace always prevail in our region. When the council hears the matter, it has taken expeditious steps to reach the elders on the matter. That is commendable”.
He lauded the Council for its proactive and responsive approach and expressed eagerness to explore avenues for collaboration and cooperation in the future.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the elders of La Royal Stool for their warm reception and acknowledged their role as key stakeholders in promoting peace and development in the region.
“The willingness to grant an audience was appreciated, as it fostered a welcoming atmosphere and offered valuable first-hand information to the Council. The experience, guidance, and perspective provided on resolving the issue are highly valued” he said.
The Chairman emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Council and Stool elders to promote sustainable peace, security, and a harmonious living environment for all residents in the region.
He further stressed the council’s role in tackling complex developmental issues, noting that it functions as a mediating body to facilitate amicable settlements, contrasting with the adversarial nature of the court system.
He highlighted the council’s diverse composition, which represents various societal opinions. He expressed readiness to collaborate on advancing national issues and addressing challenges of the region.
