CRPC and ERPC Promote Religious Tolerance in Schools Through Radio Dialogue on MoU
The Central Regional Peace Council (CRPC), in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Peace Council (ERPC) and Kastle FM in Cape Coast, has organized a radio discussion aimed at promoting religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence within educational institutions in Ghana.
The programme, held on 19th May 2026 at Kastle FM, focused on educating the public on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Religious Tolerance in Schools and its role in strengthening inclusivity, peace, and mutual respect among students of different religious backgrounds.
Promoting Peaceful Coexistence in Schools
The MoU seeks to preserve and strengthen the long-standing relationship between religious missions, educational institutions, and the State, ensuring that schools remain safe and inclusive environments for all students.
The discussion emphasized the importance of preventing religious discrimination while maintaining discipline and institutional values within schools. Stakeholders highlighted that promoting tolerance and understanding is key to reducing tensions and fostering unity in educational spaces.
Strengthening Stakeholder Collaboration
The initiative brought together key stakeholders from the Central and Eastern Regional Peace Councils and Kastle FM to deepen public understanding of the MoU and its implementation.
Speaking during the programme, the Central Regional Peace Council Regional Executive Secretary, Dr. Charles Ohene Amoh, explained that the MoU is designed to ensure that schools remain peaceful environments where students can freely practice their religion without discrimination.
He noted that the framework reinforces collaboration between religious bodies, educational authorities, and the State to uphold peace and institutional harmony.
Similarly, the Eastern Regional Peace Council Regional Executive Secretary, Mr. Albert Koomson, emphasized that the MoU promotes mutual respect, tolerance, and inclusivity among students. He added that clear guidelines and stakeholder cooperation are essential in preventing religious discrimination and maintaining harmony within schools.
Expected Impact
The radio engagement is expected to increase public awareness of the MoU on Religious Tolerance in Schools and improve understanding among stakeholders on the importance of peaceful coexistence in education.
It is also anticipated to strengthen collaboration among schools, parents, religious bodies, and government institutions, while reducing religious misunderstanding and discrimination within learning environments.
Ultimately, the initiative contributes to building inclusive, peaceful, and tolerant school communities across Ghana.
