Ahafo Regional Peace Council Engages Ahafoman Senior High Technical School Students on Conflict Resolution and Peaceful Co-existence

The Ahafo Regional Peace Council, with support from the National Peace Council (Government of Ghana), organized a Peace Education Programme on Conflict Resolution and Building Peaceful Co-existence for students of Ahafoman Senior High Technical School in Goaso on 4th August 2026.

The engagement sought to deepen students’ understanding of the nature and causes of conflict while equipping them with practical skills in communication, active listening, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution. Students were also encouraged to reject violence and promote tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence within the school and their communities.

During the engagement, students were reminded that conflicts are a normal part of human interaction, but disagreements do not have to result in violence. They were encouraged to manage their emotions, listen to others, communicate respectfully, and seek peaceful solutions whenever misunderstandings arise.

The students were further challenged to become Peace Ambassadors by setting positive examples among their peers and promoting a culture of dialogue, reconciliation, respect, and tolerance within the school community.

The programme brought together representatives of the Ahafo Regional Peace Council, the Headmaster and Management of Ahafoman Senior High Technical School, teaching staff, and student leaders. The engagement forms part of ongoing peace education efforts to empower young people with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to prevent violence and contribute to sustainable peace in their schools and communities.
