The National Peace Council Conducts Orientation For Newly Recruited Staff

The National Peace Council (NPC) held a 2-day orientation for new staff from across the country from June 30 to July 1, 2020 at the Miklin hotel, Kumasi.
Dr. Janet Ampadu Fofie, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Chairman of the NPC, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, Mr. George Amoh, Ag. Executive Secretary, Director of Career Development and Outreach of NPC, Madam Janet Sarney-Kuma addressed the orientees.

In her presentation, Dr. Ampadu Fofie, took the new staff through the basic rudiments of public service and encouraged the new recruits to uphold the core values of the service. She advised the new staff to maintain utmost confidentiality in their line of duty and explained the modalities for probation periods, assessments, confirmation, leave and promotions.

The Chairman of the NPC, Most Rev. Prof Asante expressed his excitement about the orientation and the meeting with the new staff. He reminded the participants to be selfless in the exercise of their functions and very cautious in their utterances and conduct as these could have implications and tarnish the image of the Council. He entreated the new staff to put Ghana first in the performance of their duties.

The Ag. Executive Secretary, Mr. George Amoh also educated participants on the history of NPC and Act 818. He further explained some peace jargons and the manner in which the NPC resolves different forms of conflicts in the country.

Finally, Madam Janet Sarney-Kuma outlined the job description and the main duties of the new staff and encouraged them to support their Regional Executive Secretaries to deliver on the mandate of the Council.

In conclusion, the participants expressed their excitement about the orientation and pledged to give off their very best for the betterment of the Council.
