Bono Regional Executive Secetary

Mr. Suallah Abdallah Quandah is my name born and bred in Wenchi in the Bono Region of Ghana. I am the Regional Executive Secretary with the National Peace Council in-charge of the Bono Region and acting in the Bono East Region.

I am married with three children. I am a teacher by profession as well as peacebuilding and conflict resolution practitioner based in Sunyani, the Bono Regional Capital. I am trained at University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast and Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. Currently, I hold a Masters degree in Conflict and Peace Studies and I am a student of law with the University of London.

I was a member-Secretary of the erstwhile Brong Ahafo Regional Peace Advisory Council from 2006 to 2011. I was appointed as the Regional Executive Secretary in 2013 when Act 818 was passed to officially institutionalize the Council. I also worked with the Ghana Education Service as a teacher from 2000 to 2006.

Ever since I was appointed as the Regional Executive Secretary in-charge of the then Brong Ahafo Region, I have been involved in various conflict mediations and resolutions in the region. Notably, Sankore political violence, Drobo-Japekrom land dispute, Wenchi chieftaincy succession dispute, Tuobodom land/chieftaincy dispute among others. I also facilitate workshops and training on peacebuilding and conflict resolution mechanisms in the region for various groups and institutions such as; the Regional House of Chiefs, religious groups, women and youth groups among others.

I instituted the celebration of International Peace Day in the region. The first of its kind organized in the region and the nation as a whole. With the success and the global reputation it brought to the Council resulted in governing board of the National Peace Council adopting to celebrate it nationwide, first of its kind in 2019.

As a Muslim, I provide technical and professional support to offices of the Bono, Bono-East and Ahafo Regional Chief Imam on issues such as development, peace and governance. This I am actively involved since 2008. I am also an advocate for Muslim youth development in the area of peace and nation-building.

My career interest lies in the areas of good governance, peace and human rights.
