Volta Regional Peace Council Promotes Responsible Leadership at Keta Senior High Technical School

The Volta Regional Peace Council (VRPC) organized a sensitization programme on 26th February 2026 at the assembly grounds of Keta Senior High Technical School in Keta.

The programme, themed Fostering Responsible Leadership and Sustainable Peace in Schools, focused on equipping students with conflict management skills, promoting leadership responsibility, and reducing violence within second cycle institutions.

Objectives of the Programme

The engagement aimed to:

  • Educate students on peaceful conflict management
  • Promote leadership responsibility among students
  • Reduce incidents of violence in schools

Expected Outcomes

The programme was designed to:

  • Increase student participation in peacebuilding initiatives
  • Improve discipline and cooperation among students
  • Strengthen collaboration between the Peace Council and the school

Key Highlights from the Presentation

The Regional Executive Secretary used a powerful analogy, describing the school as a construction project in which every student contributes to the final structure. He explained that when some students engage in violence or disrespect authority, it weakens the entire system—disrupting lessons, lowering morale, and affecting the overall learning environment.

He emphasized that peace creates stability, and stability enhances concentration and academic achievement. By choosing cooperation over confrontation, students contribute to unity and ensure that teaching and learning continue without fear or interruption.

He further encouraged students to see themselves as builders of a positive academic environment, where respect, teamwork, and responsibility form the foundation for success.

He concluded by urging students to embrace their roles as leaders and ambassadors of peace, both within the school and in their wider communities.

Participation

The programme brought together the Volta Regional Peace Council, school authorities, teaching staff, and student leaders of Keta Senior High Technical School, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting discipline, leadership, and sustainable peace within the school community
