STATEMENT ON THE FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT AT SEFWI SAYERANO, JUABOSO DISTRICT

The Western North Regional Peace Council has received with deep sorrow and grave concern reports of a fatal shooting incident that occurred at Sefwi Sayerano in the Juaboso District, resulting in the tragic loss of life and injuries to others.

The Council extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and sympathizes with all those affected by this unfortunate incident.

The Regional Peace Council strongly condemns all acts of violence and the unlawful use of firearms. Such actions undermine peace, security, and social cohesion within our communities and threaten the stability of the Western North Region.

We therefore call on all residents of Sefwi Sayerano and the surrounding communities to remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from any retaliatory acts that could escalate tensions.

The Council further urges the Ghana Police Service and all relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial, and swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the laws of Ghana.

We appeal to traditional authorities, opinion leaders, youth groups, religious bodies, and civil society organizations to support ongoing peacebuilding efforts and to encourage dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the rule of law.

The Western North Regional Peace Council remains committed to working with all stakeholders to preserve peace and promote harmonious coexistence throughout the region.
