Celebrating Women as Key Partners in Peacebuilding – International Women’s
Day 2026
Accra, 8, March 2026. As the world commemorates International Women’s Day 2026,
the National Peace Council joins the global community in celebrating the resilience,
leadership, and invaluable contributions of women in building peaceful and inclusive
societies.
Women continue to play a critical role in fostering dialogue, promoting reconciliation,
and strengthening social cohesion within families, communities, and nations. Their
unique perspectives, compassion, and commitment to justice make them indispensable
actors in conflict prevention, management, and resolution.
On this occasion, the National Peace Council extends warm wishes to all women in
Ghana and around the world. We commend their tireless efforts in promoting peace and
development.
The Council believes that sustainable peace can only be achieved when women are
meaningfully included in decision-making processes and conflict resolution
mechanisms. Their voices, leadership, and participation are essential in addressing the
many conflicts confronting our societies today.
The National Peace Council therefore encourages women and girls to take active
interest in peacebuilding processes at all levels. Their meaningful participation in
decision-making and conflict resolution is key to achieving sustainable peace and
development.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the National Peace Council commends
women for their role and entreat them to continue working together to build peaceful
and inclusive communities.
The Council also affirms its commitment to empowering women and promoting gender
inclusive approaches to peacebuilding. Together, we can build a future where dialogue
prevails over division and peace thrives in every community.
Happy International Women’s Day to all women.
